A Philippine former boxing champ turned politician Manny Pacquiao has said that gay people are “worse than animals”.
Manny Pacquiao who is described as a conservative Christian is running for a Senate seat in the Philippines.
He is currently a member of the house of representatives.
Speaking on local station TV5 earlier in the week he tells the interviewer,
“It’s common sense. Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female?”
“The animals are better. They know how to distinguish male from female. If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then Man is worse than animals.”

Homosexuality is legal in the Philippines but LGBTI rights are poor. There are no recognitions for same-sex couples and no provisions made for those discriminated against because of their sexuality.
Pacquiao’s comments come just after months after boxer Tyson Fury caused anger after comparing gay people to paedophiles.
In 2014 former boxing champ Evander Holyfield outraged viewers of Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother when he said that homosexuality was not normal.
