8. When it comes to LGBT rights, Britain is lightyears ahead
Only one of the four home countries, Northern Ireland, has yet to legalise gay marriage, and in England and Wales, it was a done with the support of the Conservative-led government. Even the Conservative education minister, who voted against equal marriage, has led the charge to combat homophobic bullying in schools. LGBT people enjoy widespread protections against discrimination which, as the recent brouhaha in Indiana shows, they simply don’t in the USA. Get with the times, America.
