Katie Hopkins has stooped to a new low
Yes even for Katie Hopkins and her rabid anti–trans tweeting has stooped to a new low after she published a limerick which included a transphobic slur aimed at Humberside police, after the force revealed that they would always investigate reports of potential hate crime, which includes transphobia.
The police force had taken to Twitter to inform their followers that they had received a number of transphobic comments being posted on social media. As part of their crackdown on hate crime, they said that they would “always investigate to determine if a hate crime or incident” had been committed – promising to take appropriate action if some was found to be breaking the law.

However, a critic of the UK’s police’s endeavours to outreach with the LGBT+ community, Katie Hopkins wrote and published a limerick which used a transphobic slur.
There once were police in the Humber
Who let burglars steal whilst they slumbered
For the sake of a tr**y
And the truth for her fanny
They made themselves pains in the bum-ber.
The word tr*nny has been described as problematic for many in the transgender community. According to Trans Media Watch, “the following terms may be found offensive by the Trans community: Sex change, Sex swap, Tranny, Transexual (when used as a noun), Transgender (when used as a noun), Pre-op, Post-op, SheMale, HeShe, Gender bender, Hermaphrodite”.
