The French anti-same sex marriage organisers of La Manif Pour Tous (Demo For All) are allegedly planning a demonstration in London on the 24th March 2013.
The website http://www.lamanifpourtousalondres.com/english has stated that a planned ‘static’ demonstration is to take place in Trafalgar Square on the 24th March 2013 at 2pm to coincide with a planned March in Paris.
La Manif Pour Tous gained media attention in January after a reported 340,000 people travelled to Paris to rally against President Hollande’s equal marriage bill.
According to the website the organisers are planning
“Another peaceful protest march of massive proportions will take place in Paris on Sunday 24 March. On the same day, a static gathering will be organized [sic] in London in association with the national demonstration to strengthen pressure on the French government.”
The organisers state that they have 3 purposes to their demonstrations:
-
First, because defending children rights is not a French or an English matter, but a global matter
-
Secondly, because we share the same values around marriage and family; we need to be united
-
Finally, because it’s obviously a way to send a message to the UK government, even if the demonstation [sic] is initiated by the French.
