George Takei’s own community of fans are demanding that the actor answer to the allegations of groping.
George Takei’s silence on an alleged sexual harassment claim brought by former model and actor Scott R Brunton has got his Facebook community vexed.
The community, which has around 10 million users on Facebook have been asking George to make a statement on the claim, in which Brunton says he found himself being groped by the Star Trek legend in 1981 when he was 23 and Takei was in his early 40s, after passing out in the actor’s home.
Since the allegations dropped in The Hollywood Reporter, Takei has seemingly remained offline and his rep said that she was unable to contact him.
Fans on the platform have been discussing the claims for hours since the allegations came to light. Many are asking Takei to make a statement.
Whilst others warned that a “Witch hunt” would begin.
Others questioned silence coming from the Takei camp
Others wanted the actor to know that they still loved him.
Fans are demanding what? Are you joking? Most fans are well-grounded, sensible, sensitive folks. They are able to view these incidents – some up to 40 years ago – for what they are. But we’re now in the Weinstein Era, and this crazed behavior more closely resembles McCarthyism than “social justice”. Comes now Scott R. Brunton: having read this article, WHAT IF someone stepped forward to describe a public park restroom “encounter” with Mr. Brunton – when they were 17 and still in high school? Would that merit a public lynching? Life often takes us down some bumpy paths, and we would all do well to “tread lightly”, reasonably, and with measured understanding. SUPPOSE there was great chemistry and affection present in those “encounters”: that young man was still only 17; and Mr. Brunton perhaps still in his 20’s. WHAT IF? Think outside the box. Just how far should this Weinstein Purge” be allowed to progress, without some justifiable push-back – in court? How far? These assertions could be true, or little more than clouded, distorted – memories. But then, maybe not. For all of the Scott Bruntons out there, think about it.
Oh get over it. Most of this Puritan nonsense is about extortionists trying to get money through civil cases.
