Thousands of expectant people lined the banks of the Thames in London last night to watch the official opening light show by Europe’s tallest building The Shard.
The laser light show failed to ignite the spirits of the throngs, with many taking to twitter to vent their disapointment.

One of the UK’s favourite drag acts Titti La Camp took to the social media network to state ‘Not since the millennium river of fire on the Thames has there been a recollective sense of “was that it”?’
Still the record breaking building looked impressive in capital’s night sky.
The tower, designed by Renzo Piano, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr al-Thani, and the Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
