Mercurial new talent Marcus Reeves presents his debut single ‘Black Tears’, available as a download through iTunes from 5 November 2012.
A shimmering slice of soulful rock, the song showcases his trademark blend of lyrical depth and
melodic hooks, stirring harmonies and high drama. A teaser sample can be heard now on his
website, http://www.reevescorner.co.uk alongside Reeves’ signature song Mad Bad World,
which is also available as a free download to fans who sign up to his mailing list. Of his latest
creation, Marcus says:
“Black Tears evokes the aftermath of an intense relationship, while the ‘b-side’ Mad Bad World
is a gloomy jazz affair. Imagine Tom Waits, Brett Anderson and Nick Cave having a drinking
competition to the soundtrack from Twin Peaks. Both songs are taken from my forthcoming first
album, which is like a sonic threesome between Aladdin Sane, Hedwig and The Phantom Of The
Opera.“
Black Tears is a tantalising introduction to Reeves’ forthcoming debut album ‘Quicksilver – The
Masquerade Macabre’, which is set to establish him as an exciting new homegrown songwriting
and performing talent. Comprising 13 original songs, the songs have been compared to classics
by artists including Marc Almond, Boy George, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Jacques Brel.
