This weekend, 15th August, sees Cardiff hold their 2015 Pride Cymru – Wales’ largest annual celebration of equality and diversity. Run entirely by the charity of volunteers, its purpose is to promote the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion and others who have been faced with adversity from society.
This year’s event looks to be the biggest yet with the star of Doctor Who and Cucumber, Andrew Hayden Smith, announced as main host and BGT’s judge, Alesha Dixon taking the place of headline performer. Prior to her days as judge on Britain’s Got Talent, you may remember Dixon for her success with girl group Mis-teeq. Joining her are X Factor alumni, Lucy Spraggan and Lloyd Daniels as well as 90’s dance legends, Snap!
As well as the main event taking place on Coopers Field, there is also the city centre parade to go to and, of course, the annual Pulse Street Party. Now in its ninth year, it allows Pride attendees to take over one of Cardiff’s main streets to enjoy Pulse nightclub and a free, unlimited fun fair – accessible to anyone with a Street Party ticket.
Do also come and say hello to TheGayUK team on a stall in the Pride Village, who’ll be showing off the latest issue. Plus, pick up a free issue.
Tickets are £8.00 for General Admission | £12.00 for Multi-Entry
