With the first weekend of Live shows completed the X Factor has had its first causality in the form of Carolynne Poole.
Both Rylan Clark, 23, and Carolynne, 32, found themselves in the bottom two which meant they had to have a sing off. Rylan sang One Night Only whilst Carolynne took on Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be.
However uproar swept the nation after longtime judge Louis seemingly changed his mind at the last minute on whether to keep Carolynne or Rylan.
Controversially Rylan was saved when Louis took the judges’ vote to deadlock, after dithering on who to save. Initially, Louis chose to save the ‘overs’ and country singer Carolynne, but then when pressed by the show’s host Dermot O’Leary, Louis in a teary flip decided to take the vote to deadlock. Taking the show to deadlock means that the artist with the most phone votes from the weekend wins the round.
After Dermot announced that the act with the most audience votes was Rylan, judge Gary Barlow stormed off the stage in outrage. The Take That writer and lead singer has never been a fan of the openly gay, former Signed By Katie Price Contestant, and constantly swipes at his performances and at the other judges allowing the Essex lad a place on the tenth series of ITV’s flagship Weekend show.
Without waiting to hear what Carolynne had to say in exit interview after being booted from the show, Gary stormed out of the television studio, leaving Rylan to survive for another week.
Gary is the first judge to loose an act this year, however because Christopher Maloney, 37, won the wildcard vote on Saturday night, team Barlow still has three acts left in the competition, along with Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa.
X Factor continues next Saturday at 8.00PM
