PACE Health and London Friend have joined together to organize the Big Gay 10K and Village Fete.
Taking place on September 30th from 11AM to 6PM at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, the Big Gay 10K is a joyous romp through some of London’s most beloved sights.
This community event is a light-hearted attempt to raise funds and awareness for the more serious issue of LGBTQ mental health.
“LGBTQ individuals are at higher risk for mental health problems due to pervasive discrimination and homophobia. PACE and London Friend are here to promote mental health and wellbeing, providing a safe, supportive place for our community to get the support they need.” says Francis Burrows, Head of Fundraising for PACE Health.
The event will begin at 11AM with registration, then a campy drag warm-up will springboard participants into action. Post-10K, participants and supporters alike are welcome back at the gardens for games, stalls, refreshments and an amazing line-up of performers including the infamous Scottee, celebrated comedienne Zoe Lyons, talented musicians Laura Catlow, Ste McCabe, Greymatter, Heads Hearts, and many more.
Whether running, walking, rolling (wheelchair accessible!) or mincing, the 10K route blazes a trail of pink past the London Eye, Jubilee Gardens, London Bridge, and Parliament, before winding back towards the Village Fête.
The Fête will feature drag tarot, a ring toss with a twist, and a full line-up of the best queer performers that London has to offer.
Registration for The Big Gay 10K is free. Participants can sign-up at http://biggay10k.co.uk
