I Killed My Mother
French-Canadian writer/director/lead actor Xaviar Dolan turns out an incredible debut for someone so young. Hubert regards his mother like most teenagers: as someone tacky and twee. Centred on the love/hate relationship Hubert has with his mother, he drifts through adolescence, experiencing love, drugs, art, and sex. His relationship with his mother develops from old games of manipulation and guilt through a strange combination of fury and affection.
