The seller on ebay described it as ‘”New. never walked on, although it has been laid on, well, it is a fertility symbol after all……Only ever used for exhibitions so in very good condition.”
Apparently 3 miles of yarn was used in created the rug.
The hand tuffed and carved, 100 per cent wool, one off rug, features a reacreation of the famous Cerne Abbas Giant, a 55 metre male naked figure which has been carved into the English countryside in Dorset.
It is thought that the carving was created in the 17th century and a Iron Age fertility symbol.
